These identical meters get branded as Mastech, Elenco and Sinometer. (Gee, do you think "SINOmeter" is a Chinese company ?) As far as I can tell, the 3 brand names differ only by their labels. Their actual single manufacturer is unknown and hidden like most red Chinese electronics products (Think Apple iPad, iTablet, etc., etc.).

The CURRENT LIMITING function is also very good. THIS IS NOT A CURRENT ADJUSTMENT CONTROL ! The output terminals are very solid, but their bare wire thru-holes on the terminal posts to be far too small for practical use. (This limitation is something that careful use of a drill will cure.)

The rear case plate has attached to it a HUGE HEAT SINK, AS IT SHOULD. Watch out for any sharp corners ! Dulling the sharp points with light use of a fine file may be in order.

The pots are very smooth and provide an intentional, even friction that allows precise hand-adjustment. The meters are very accurate as far as having only 3 digits. If you want more voltage and current monitoring precision, then you are supposed to already know that you need to use external high precision meters !

I've used this for about the past month for my pool. It does come out of calibration by about one-tenth every other week. It is easy to calibrate. Sometimes it's slow to adjust and I've watched the meter inch all the way from 6.0 before settling on 6.7! Maybe that's just an isolated case. The probe on this model is not replaceable, but for the money, its way ahead of those cheaper variations. I just wish the cap was waterproof, it's tight but seems to leak a little bit.

Usually the lowest magnification of a microscope is 40x. Sometimes you need a lower magnification, e.g. to take a picture of a larger part of a slide. This is what I use this objective for. It fits any microscope (at least made by Amscope) since it has a standard mounting thread. However one has to be aware that it cannot be used with any microscope because of its focal distance. For example it cannot be used with an Amscope PZ-300T (originally equipped with plan achromatic objectives) but works with a M500 (achromatic objectives). Plan achromatic objectives have a much larger flat field than the achromatic ones, but work at a larger distance from the stage.

Just got this microscope yesterday. It's amazing. Originally I had planned to spend more money on a scope with 1000x magnification power, but when I learned that this one could be upgraded, I decided to save some money and avoid the difficulty of dealing with oil immersion. I am very impressed with what you can see at 400x and 500x, and with such clarity. Also, the mechanical stage is great. I didn't think of the mechanical stage is a deciding factor when choosing a scope, but now that I've used it I can't imagine not having it.

I want to give this product 5 stars, except that, as others have said, this seems like it could be a fire hazard. I actually feel very fortunate that I had read the other reviews that mentioned this danger, because otherwise I probably would not have taken any precautionary steps. Because I read those reviews, I chose to put my microscope on top of a cork coaster when using the lamp. Sure enough, when I moved the microscope aside, you could see that the coaster had started to become discolored under the lamp! That could have been my table.

Other than that, the only other complaints I have is that this does not come with any blank slides, and the lamp does not have a switch, but these are small issues that do not affect my rating. As long as you're careful not to leave the microscope unattended when the lamp is on, you won't be disappointed.

I have been using the Celestron Micro Fi wireless microscope for about a week now and have found it to be very versatile and easy to deploy. The addition of my lightweight tabletop tripod expands its uses even further. The built-in light source is a very nice feature. The ability to see its images on a large screen (tablet, laptop) is great and makes it a useful tool to collaborate with others easily. As a retired criminal investigator, I see this as a very useful tool. Given the increasingly microscopic nature of crime scenes, the Micro Fi would allow an investigator to quickly survey a scene to determine the need to call in expert technicians, or not, thus extending resources. Items of interest could be shared and discussed with office-based experts by wi-fi or email. The compactness and low cost of the unit would make it easily available to field investigators who would otherwise not have such technology available. I highly recommend this device.

I have used many microscopes that cost 5 to 10 times more than this smaller version and I would recommend this to anyone who needs to do biological or metallurgical work at magnfications from about 40X to 2000X. I used a calibrated grid to calibrate all of the lenses with the computer that I am using, which is a Windows 7 Professional driven Compaq. It is very easy to set up and use but you need to go on-line to get the most recent manual. There is a paper in the box that lets you know exactly where to find this. It is important because the manual this is in the CD is not for this microsope. If you are going to use this as a metallurgical microscope (not using tranmitted light but using reflected light) there is no through lense lighting. You will need to have an outside light. I purchased the AMScope LED-8WD from Amazon to go with this microscope.

I had read a review that says you can not run the software on a Windows 8 machine. That is true if it is Windows 8RT but not a true Windows 8 machine. I installed the software on two of my Windows 8 computers and it works very well. You may have an issue with the drivers because windows installation may say that it is incompatible. Ignore this and make sure that you install the drivers for the camera before you plug in the USB cable. When installing the software leave the USB unplugged until you get a message saying that you need to plug in the camera. I would be happy to share more about this if you get into trouble.

As an additional note: I also purchased the AmScope 20x-40x-80x Digital Stereo Microscope with top and bottom illumination. Which is another great microscope with digital camera lense. You have to remove the lense from the body and it is held in there with a very small phillips screw

We use this microscope on our iMac (OS 10.7.5) with Apple Photo Booth software. It works perfectly.

Photo Booth automatically recognizes it as an external camera. Since Photo Booth takes pictures, we can take a picture of anything that the microscope "sees".

The microscope can reveal tiny organisms in creek water, pores on the ridge of your finger, incredible amounts of dirt in your keyboard. It will not magnify down to the cellular level. That's a different job for a different microscope.

I love it that we can see everything on the computer screen and don't need to look through an eye piece. That was the main reason I bought this - to have a convenient way to introduce children to world of tiny things, stoke curiosity and explore.

The metal stand is very well made and has a "macro" up and down twist control. There's a fine focus control on the back end of the silver tube, of the microscope itself.

I would definitely buy this again.

I have wanted a good microscope for home use for years but have not been willing to shell out the cash. Bought this microscope as my fortieth birthday present to myself and have used it at least three dozen times so far. I run a small farm and have done fecal exams and skin scrapings. I have two little girls and we have examined everything we could find under this microscope even my own blood. I have not used the USB yet as I am used to looking through a microscope and my girls can too so just haven't taken the time to hook it up. My degree is in biology and this microscope's quality is as good as any I ever used back in college. I researched long and hard, read every review. I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend
